New inspiration, new techniques, new paintings!

I’ve been practising being brave the last couple of months. I really wanted to push myself to develop in my work, so I took inspiration from some of my favourite contemporary landscape painters, and tried out some new styles and techniques.

I used more impasto in both oils and acrylics, trying out palette knives which I hadn’t really done before. I used bigger brushes, injecting bolder splashes of colour with looser strokes to create loose, vibrant images. I ended up with woodland scenes with an impressionist vibe, and sweeping landscapes full of light and movement.

I’m really pleased with the new pieces and how the new techniques are developing my painting – watch this space for more new work!
